CellaComb Fir PT sử dụng bước sóng cụ thể, trong đó khí đốt chứa carbon nóng có mật độ quang cao và do đó tính chất bức xạ tốt. Nhiệt kế hồng ngoại được sử dụng để đo nhiệt độ của CO ₂ nóng bên trong buồng đốt của các nhà máy điện, quy trình đốt và lò đốt chất thải. Độ thâm nhập phụ thuộc vào nồng độ CO ₂ của khí nóng.
